mini_me asked:
I have been using glasses for the past 14 years of my life and every time I go to have my eyes checked and prescription done I see doctors using glasses and when every single time I ask about why they havent had surgery done they tell me that they are too busy performing them and dont have time to get it done. I sure dont belive that answer. I am thinking about having surgery myself but the fact that doctors are not getting it themselves make me think it twice.

i go to an ophthalmologist to get my eyes checked. he wears glasses too. a couple years ago i was considering lasik. i asked him what he thought about it and he said, “do you see me wearing glasses?” i said, “yeah.” and he said, “well, there you go.” i would love to get lasik too, but i’m going to stick with the daily contacts routine. i’m too freaked out that i would have a new problem to deal with afterwards, like chronic dry eyes or blurriness or bad night vision or something worse. gives me the heebee-geebies
I don’t know how old these people were, but once you get to be about 40 or so, the benefits of laser correction are not as much, because you will soon need glasses for reading, using the computer etc. So, you will be spending like 3 grand to: not wear glasses, and then find you still have to use glasses!
When you’re younger, your eyes usually have no trouble seeing near things, so if you get your distance vision fixed, (and they do it correctly) you won’t need glasses. However, there is no gaurantee how long this will be the case.
Personal choice, I am shortsighted and have astigmatism and have worn glasses since i was very little. Wear contacts now but i think, as well as others, that there is always a risk with getting laser treatment, like a risk of blindness. Dont want blindness to be the price of vanity, if you know what i mean lol
